Final Destination Meyada Mohamed
Coming to America we were in the air for eight hours. Just our luck, on our plane there were several infants just a couple days old. Babies and little kids on an eight hour flight is no joke. During the whole flight, one would stop crying but then another would start crying and yelling. The parents were kind of embarrasses of their children’s actions but what can a person do with their little children. I was alright because I had my headphones in my ears and volume all the way up with my music. My sister and my parents were watching the movie that was showing at that time. The stewardesses served us food and got us drinks about two hours into the flight.
Finally we landed at Detroit Metro Airport after the longest air plane flight I have ever been on and, of course, we thought that we were going to pick up our bags and head outside to meet the family that was supposed to be taking care of us until we got our own apartment.
As you may have already predicted, we had to go through security again because they had to take our fingerprints and check our documents like our passports and green cards. The security people at the air port were taking their sweet time when we knew that we were supposed to finish fast.
After we were finally done with all the checking in, we proceeded out of the doors and even though we had never met the family that was there to pick us up, we kind of figured it out because they were the only people there that spoke Bulgarian. Plus, they were the only family still waiting at the exit doors.
The family consisted of three kids and two parents. After we said our hellos we proceeded to the parking lot. We were out side for two seconds but we couldn’t take a deep breathe because it was so hot and humid. Let me just say it was an hour and a half ride to their house and we almost didn’t make it. We were dressed in suits and high heels. The picture wasn’t pretty.
My family and I were not used to this kind of weather conditions and our friends didn’t seem to mind at all the weather. We have such luck because the mother of the three kids told us that today is on of the hottest days of the year. In Bulgaria we have hot summers but we don’t have humidity and a person can actually breathe.
We got to their house which was in Hamtramck. My parents and the three boys’ parents got acquainted with each other and the three boys were going to show us around. The funny thing was that the parents could speak Bulgarian with my parents but the boys spoke this kind of broken Bulgarian – English made up language. My sister and I were just patient to try and understand what they were trying to tell us.
The first couple of days we had a blast over at their house because we watched the boys get in trouble every five minutes. It was literary like WWE. Their mom was the referee twenty – four seven breaking up fights and such. That was amazing to my sister and I but they were very nice people to take us in like that we loved their kindness.
