In early American history, I often ask students to write a poem from the Puritan mind set. A complete list of student poems is available. |

"As We Wait"
by Sophia Lolita Hughey
As we wait
We gain faith
As we cry
It makes us thrive
At night when we lay
We pray
And when we rest
Our souls release the stress

Thank you for using my photo at your web site. Interestingly enough my grandpa was a puritan at heart. He slept under a picture of his church, brought the family together for worship every morning and prayed for each one of us at bedtime before hugging and kissing us good night.
I believe the poem and the picture were a Divine Appointment.
Thank you again
