In early American history, I often ask students to write a poem from the Puritan mind set.

"In Times of Trouble Help Me"

by Srilekha Daita

In times of trouble help me
Faith not lost in thee
Pray Almighty Help me Help the Poor
Thee Provide Us with food, courage and strong heart
My Soul Rests in Thee, Almighty

God you are everywhere
Thee are in my heart, air, water, sky, land and fire
Though thee not touchable or feelable
Thee are filled in our hearts, Almighty
