In early American history, I often ask students to write a poem from the Puritan mind set.

"A Plea for Guidance"

by Tina Parce

Oh gentle Savior pass me not
For in this world I have ought’
To be the one to share your name
That I myself be put to shame

To show your love to those around
And share your grace that does abound
This be my job I ever know
That through me your light may show

But Lord it does my mouth comes dry
And doth my fears they multiply
I urge so much to share your word
But come the time my minds a blur

My true desire is in you Lord
So let my faith become restored
Give words so ever true
And humble speaking of only you

My duty Lord I must fulfill
Let thy guidance be your will
Oh precious Lord hear my plea
And ever always work through me

Well done!!

To show your love to those around
And share your grace that does abound
This be my job I ever know
That through me your light may show

I especially like this stanza. Sometime the hardest thing to do is to show love or extend grace.

Thank you so much for letting me know about the usage [of my photograph on this page]. The poem paired with the photo is beautiful! :-)
